This critically acclaimed Toronto native has produced music for everyone from Drake to Busta Rhymes to Nelly Furtado and has released one of Canada’s farthest reaching mixtape series, We On Some Rich Kidd Shit 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5.
Rich Kidd arrived in 2009 as a prodigal producer when the iconic Busta Rhymes used his production for a mixtape cut featuring M.O.P.’s Billy Daze called “Indescribable.” In that same year, K-os released one of his most successful hits, “I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman” (featuring Saukrates and Nelly Furtado) over a Rich Kidd production sampling Phantom Planet’s “California.” The following year, the music video for the song was nominated for Best Hip Hop Video at the 2010 MMVAs.
Rich Kidd has been nominated for several awards including 2010 Stylus Producer of the Year and five additional nominations at the 2011 Stylus Awards where he won the Mixtape of the Year award. In the same year, Rich Kidd made his directing debut with “Trespassing,” a semi-biographical short film which was included at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival.
After several successful tours in Canada and Australia, Rich Kidd has defined himself as a major talent and multi-skilled musical visionary.
